Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Articheck ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores and protects your information. Articheck is a kitchen prep-list and team-management app for restaurants. By creating an account and using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to run the App:

  • Account information — email address and password (handled and stored by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see it in plain text), and your display name.
  • Team and roster data — restaurant/team name, membership, roles (head chef, sous-chef, cook), kitchen sections, prep lists, checklists, shifts, events, shopping items and activity history.
  • Staff information entered by the head chef — optionally a member's contact email, phone, contract start date and date of birth. Visible only to the head chef and sous-chefs of that team.
  • Photos — recipe photos, member avatars and a restaurant logo you choose to upload.
  • Kiosk PIN — in Kiosk mode a numeric PIN is stored only as a salted hash (PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256). The PIN itself is never stored.
  • Diagnostics — anonymous crash reports via Google Firebase Crashlytics.
  • Push notification token — a device token used to deliver notifications.

We do not collect location data, we do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not sell your data.

2. Optional AI features (Claude)

The App includes optional AI assistant features powered by Anthropic's Claude. These are only active if you enter your own Anthropic API key. In the mobile apps (iPhone, iPad, Android) the key is kept solely on your device and is not transmitted to us. In the web app the key is stored on our server — precisely so that it cannot be read back from the browser — and requests to Anthropic are sent by our server rather than by your browser, which means the content of your request passes through our infrastructure. When used, the content of your request is sent to Anthropic's API under Anthropic's Privacy Policy. If you do not enable these features, no data is sent to Anthropic.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
  • To provide core features — shared prep lists, scheduling, recipes, events and team coordination.
  • To send notifications you have enabled.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.

We do not use your content for advertising or for training AI models.

4. Where your data is stored

Data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Authentication, Storage, Crashlytics, App Check) and may be processed on Google's servers. See Firebase's Privacy and Security. Access to team data is restricted by security rules to members of your team with the appropriate role.

5. Data sharing

We share data only with the providers that make the App work: Google (Firebase) for storage, authentication and diagnostics, Apple for push delivery, and — only if you enable AI features — Anthropic. We do not share your data with any other third parties.

6. Retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the App (Settings → Account → Delete account). Activity history is automatically deleted after 30 days. You may also contact us to request deletion.

7. Children

Articheck is a workplace tool for restaurant staff and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Security

We use encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase App Check, server-side security rules and hashed PINs. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data. Use the in-app deletion option or contact us above.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date above.
